Team Announces New Name

by Dale E. News

BOSTON – The Louisville club captured Doubleday world’s first World Championship in five games over the Boston team. Brett Russell was named team postseason MVP after smacking six homers and posting a 1.110 OPS in 14 games during Louisville’s run through the playoffs and World Series.

Immediately after the final Series game, owner Ralph Bedwell announced that the team had adopted a new name, the Louisville Colonels. “This is the classic name for Louisville baseball teams,” said Bedwell. “We’re happy to restore this great tradition to the city of Louisville at the same time that we bring the crown home to the Falls City.”

The club also unveiled a new team logo (pictured above) incorporating both the new name and the World Championship crown.
