The Boston Beaneaters signed SS Brian Washington to a one-year deal worth $4 million dollars today after waiving former SS Dale Faulkner. Washington, whose original asking price was a three-year deal totaling $20.5 million dollars, accepted Boston's one-year offer for less money when no other offers came his way.
Washington spent his first two seasons in Louisville, where he collected two World Series rings and was a lifetime .267 hitter. The 33-year-old UK native is a good all-around hitter and a strong defensive player, and will help bolster the Beaneaters lineup.
Beaneaters GM "Keosawa" said in a statement, "we consider Brian Washington to be the best available free agent on the market and are extremely happy that he has come to Boston at a reduced price."
