DOUBLE DAY DAILY
Unlike most honeymoons, newly minted general manager douglaslee hasn't gotten lucky.
After being married to the Cleveland Captains franchise as the heralded savior-to-be, douglaslee has been anything but fortunate. His franchise suffered through a 0-11 start before enjoying its first win today.
Upon joining the Captains, douglaslee said, "I am glad to be here in Cleveland to help turn this franchise around. There wont be people just talking about Lebron James and the Cavs. They will be talking about the [Captains]."
Fans in Cleveland have been talking about the Captains, but those conversations have been riddled with obscenaties and your-momma jokes. Now, with his first win under his belt, douglaslee has started along the road towards rebuilding a shaky franchise and creating out of it a winner.
To the fans of Cleveland, douglaslee has promised changes, and has made good on shaking up the team's personnel. He has also proposed a name change, which would further dramatize the facelift the franchise is preparing to undergo. Douglaslee said, "Yes we are changing the name to begin what we hope are many years of competitive baseball as we aim to bring a title to Cleveland."
It wont be easy or happen overnight but we will get back to basics and give you another sport to talk about," douglaslee added to the fans of Cleveland.
Where this ballclub goes from here, no one can be quite sure. There is still some offensive talent remaining--big slugger Billy Meyers and recent signing Billy Leonard among them--and the team is hanging onto SP David Shin, at least for now.
The most important moment in Cleveland's season might just be the amateur draft, in which the Captains pick 8th overall. The Captains will search for the franchise savior it needs with that selection.
Yes, the Captains, at 1-11, remain in the proverbial doghouse, a love-starved franchise begging for an overhaul. But now, with an impassioned owner with a proven track record, the Captains can finally begin the long road towards a resurgence.
