Kansas City, Here We Come

By NEWBIEFNG
DOUBLE DAY DAILY

A new era in KC baseball came to be when the coaching team of dwhit34 and Buffalo_Rob brought newbieFNG to town. Team newbie is made up of a veteran coach in David and the inexperienced Rob. There was an air of excitement brewing at the ball park. However some of the veteran players would soon find out their excitement would be with a different team.

Team newbie decided to let FA veterans Max Perez, Johnny Padgett, & Reid Paul go into Free Agency. In return KC received 4 additional picks in the up and coming draft. By not signing the veteran FAs. KC was able to gain flexiblility with their budget. The rebuilding process was underway. Phase II of the rebuilding project was for team newbie to go to arbitration with 6 other veteran players.

Disaster almost struck with David away Rob decided to play. Rob signed 4 of the 6 veterans to long term contracts instead of going to arbitration. This almost blew David's budget plans right out of the water. Now needing to make more room in the budget. Team newbie entered into trade talks for highly sought after SP Posieden "The Adventure" Webber and LF Otto "I am not Naomi" Judd. The Webber Trade brought in 24 year old slugger Valerio Delgado along with prospects SP Pedro Molina & OF Phil Swann. RBI king Otto Judd was traded for 25 year old slugger 3B Archie "All in the Family' Meacham.

Two more promising young players accompanied Meacham. Slugging 23 year old RF Matt "Frenchie" Quiarte and 20 year old CF Rob "I am not from Buffalo" Donatello. One final trade would round out the salary purge. Mitch "Quaker State" Palmer who won his arbitration hearing against KC was promptly sent packing before he could even cash his first check. Since team newbie had let go nearly an entire pitching staff.
