Oakland Oaks | 29-22 .569 - |

Omaha Spikes | 25-26 .490 4.0 |
San Diego Electrics | 24-27 .471 5.0 |
The NL West was probably the single worst division in Doubleday in season 1. This season however the top two teams in that division are both tied at 29-22. One of the teams in this tie is Oakland Oaks. Having new management Oakland made a few deals during the off season one of which was acquiring Rafael Pena SP. Pena is 7-1 on the season with the lowest era so far. After a disappointing season 1 finishing 3rd in the division,Having Pena leading the pitching staff there is a high probability of Oakland winning the division.
The other team tied for first is Honolulu Scallywags, Honolulu won the division last year and hope to do it again this year. With RF Chris Marte hammering the ball it all seems very possible. Marte has 21 Home runs and is well on his way to passing his season 1 home run total of 39. Watch this team, they could do amazing things.
Omaha Spikes, they are struggling a little this year.. After a rough season 1 they are looking to improve greatly. It's only a matter of time before the presence of 1B Albert Wall and SP Pete Reid start really making this team a force to be reckoned with.
That brings us to San Diego a 65-97 record just doesn't sit well with any fans.. But with another new owner San Diego is looking to be in good hands. Only 5 games out and keeping a steady pace going they could pull ahead or even take this division. They have the tools to do so, and may only be one big trade or free agent signing away from doing that. They seriously need to improve their offense to help put some runs on the board. Pitchers, Angel Lee and Peter Matheson can only do so much with the low run support. I feel these guys can turn it around. So look out for them come the end of the season.
