DOUBLE DAY AP
The Colorado Grizzlies have just sent 1B Barry Broadhurst, who hit .357 with 52 HR and 151 RBIs last season between Colorado and Los Angeles, to the Montreal Shamrocks. Broadhurst is in the final year of his contract and is slated to be paid 6.5 million.
Joining Broadhurst will be P Luke Bubsy, a young righty who is projected to be a very good future major league starter. Colorado also sends 24-year-old Stevie Hartman in a multi-player package to Montreal.
In return, the Grizzlies have acquired LF Jay Weston, a top-tier 26-year-old hitter who struggled to hit only .254 with the Shamrocks last year. Also included is impressive pitching prospect Ivan Figureoa, who figures to be one of the Grizzlies' best pitchers for the coming season.
